Dracath

One of the sentient races. Dracathi are humanoid reptilian creatures, believed to be descended from an ancient ancestor of the Water Dragons. They are ferociously strong and capable of withstanding tremendous punishment, however they are quick to anger and have difficulty comprehending anything but the most basic intellectual tasks. They are natural swimmers and possess the ability to breathe underwater, which allows them to seek out hidden locations that other races would find inaccessible.

Dryad

One of the sentient races. Dryads are a nimble race of sprites who make their homes in the treetops of thickly forested areas. They are closely related in stature and physique to the Elves who also dwell in the woodlands, although the most notable feature of the Dryads is the leafy-green skin colour unique to their race. Their society is primarily built around communities of hunters and warriors, with the tribal chieftains earning their place through archery and hunting tournaments.

Dwarf

One of the sentient races. Short and stocky, hardy and strong, Dwarves are hard workers and even harder drinkers. They make their homes deep underground and are often found working as a smith or mining for ore. Being creatures of the stone, they have developed a tough physique which gives them a natural resistance to physical damage.

Dwarven Language

Dwarves are logical and methodical creatures, and this is reflected in their language. One aspect of the Dwarven language is the lack of nuance; for example "betzen" refers to any kind of alcoholic drink, or indeed alcohol itself, regardless of what type of drink it might be (beer, ale etc.). "Grotz" refers to anything big without giving any idea of scale or magnitude. Precision is specified by numbers where necessary, but otherwise Dwarven words are used as generalisations and not specifications.

Elphan

One of the sentient races. Elphanin are strong and intelligent creatures with a bulky humanoid frame and an elephant's head. An ancient spacefaring race of unknown origins. What little is known about them suggests them to be very technologically advanced and magically adept, such that they are even capable of creating new life-forms on previously uninhabited worlds. The few alleged sightings report their appearances as resembling some sort of blue-skinned serpentine demon.

Paras Akarata

Elven Language: Roughly translated as "Duration of Life". This marks the number of centuries since the first recorded history of the ancient elves who first came to sentience and learned to record the passing of time in numerical fashion. They chose the date of the first meeting of the elders as the start point for their calendar system. In the Common tongue the Paras Akarata designation is replaced with ECM (Elven Council Meeting) but still refers to the same system, i.e. PA and ECM are interchangeable.
